Greenwich MathSoc and PrimeTimes

There have been many great moments in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Greenwich this year, including being ranked the top maths department in London for student satisfaction by the 2019 Complete University Guide (as we were in 2018). This is a fantastic achievement that we are very proud of.

A personal highlight has been working with Greenwich MathSoc. The current Committee has done an amazing job in building our community and adding extra value to the university experience for all of our maths students (you can follow them on Twitter: @UoG_MathSoc, and the department @Maths_Gre). Their tenure is coming to an end but not before publishing a third edition of their magazine, PrimeTimes. You can read it here to find out about some of the things they have been up to (and previous editions can be found on my earlier blog posts): PrimeTimesApril2018_v2

While it will be sad to say goodbye to such an active and engaged team, a new Committee with new ideas has been elected and I look forward to working with them in the new academic year. I am sure they will build upon the achievements of their predecessors!

The new academic year beings a new committee for University of Greenwich’s student-run mathematics society (MathSoc).  Our fantastic new group have made an very active start to their reign and the latest edition of their termly magazine, PrimeTimes, includes a review of the IMA Festival of Mathematics (which was organised by the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Greenwich), and an interview with Dr Nira Chamberlain. Good job, MathSoc!!
